Barbara Bush Maroon Bonnets Created by Texas A&M University

Did you know that there are 120 Aggie Mothers' Clubs with the majority of clubs located in Texas? When you join one of the Mothers' Clubs, it's an excellent way to become familiar with Texas A&M and form friendships. The Mothers' Clubs support our students and the University through fund raising projects and send hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions for scholarships and campus organizations.

The Dallas County Texas A&M University Mothers' Club was the first club to be organized in February 1922. Mrs. H. L. Peoples started the club. One of the Club's first projects that spring was preparing and sending picnic baskets on the train to the Dallas students for a "Picnic on the Grounds". In 1925 Mrs. Peoples visited Dr. W. B. Bizzell, President of the University, and talked with him about her idea of inviting parents to the campus for a visit. The first gathering of parents occurred the week before Mothers' Day and was a tremendous success. This event developed into Parents' Weekend as we know it today.

Monthly meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at Texas A&M University Dallas at 17360 Coit Road in Richardson (just north of Campbell). Our programs include speakers from the University staff, students, former students, and planned events. Scheduled meetings and activities are listed in "Schedule of Events".

Come visit our meetings and join in the fun!
