Muster was first held in 1883 when Aggies met on June 26 to "live over again our college days, the victories
and defeats won and lost upon drill ground and classroom".  Let every alumni answer a roll call, "wrote the former students.
The early meetings were usually parties and banquets held during the annual commencement activities.
As the years evolved, Muster is observed on April 21 (Texas Independent Day).  Muster pays homage to all students and former students
who have passed on.  During the ceremony some living comrade answers "here" when roll call for the absent is read.

Muster is held throughout the world by small and large groups of Aggies.
It has come to be one of our greatest traditions.  Muster is symbolic of the great
loyalty which binds Aggies to their school and to each other.
